The work was made for a small and dark woodland by the Vistula river in Nowy Port in Gdansk. Nowy Port is an isolated neighborhood in Gdansk surrounded by a vast industrial district. After the continuous dismantling of the port the district has found itself facing many questions concerning its future. The work was a composition for foghorns, where the sounds first begin from a far distance and eventually grow closer and surrounds the viewers.

The location is by a river bend named ‘The Five Whistles Corner’, this exact place was from where the german battle ship Schleswig-Holstein fired the first shots of the 2nd World War. The knowledge of this and the current political atmosphere in Poland and Europe in general played its role, and the further the piece developed the more ominous it became. Eventually I started to think about it as a prelude for the new Europe.
